Video presentation of art installation:
While the lovers only view the illuminated heart showering them in warm light from right under the installation, the spectator ends up seeing multiple forms that eventually converge into the lit abstract eye. Commonly known as the ' nazar rakshak', it spiritually cancels all the visual negative envious energy that would have otherwise been directed at the lost-in-love pair under the tree, creating a sacred safe zone. The utter darkness has been maintained in both the film and the stills to impress on the notion that the distant viewer sees not more than the glass lights shaped as the ever-seeing eye, while those under it concentrate only on each other, oblivious and unaffected by the stranger that lurks beyond. 'Nazar', although linked to both superstition and black magic in India, is a sensitive taboo topic that manages to get discussed at every dinner table in the country. It makes for stunning captures, either way.
